We have struggled through the worst droughts in living memory, unprecedented and relentless fires that ravaged communities causing tragic loss of life and catastrophic property damage and now the massive threat to business and health with the Corona virus pandemic. Things can only get better and they will!
The Federal Government’s decision to close all non-essential services including licensed clubs from Monday 23rd March, 2020 was a massive blow to our staff, members and the broader Forster Tuncurry community. Unfortunately, as a result of this decision the Board was forced to stand down all staff temporarily. When the law allows, all staff will return to their jobs as the Club’s reopen.
Shutting down Club Forster and Sporties Tuncurry is not a matter of turning off a switch and going home. Important administrative functions need to be carried out, food and beverage stocks run-down, returned or secured, office and IT equipment and systems supported, in-house security presence arranged, cash and floats counted and banked and much routine maintenance and repairs to the clubs assets need to be regularly undertaken. Consequently the Board have appointed a Business Recovery Team covering Administration, Operations and Catering to ensure this important work is carried out whilst also providing a takeaway food and beverage plus Mini Mart supplying essential household items at both clubs to our communities throughout the Corona virus period. The Club’s Business Recovery Team is working hard, focusing on and also committed to the health, well being and financial security of all staff whilst supporting our communities during these extremely threatening times.
The Business Recovery Team is doing all it can in readiness for a quick and effective re-opening of Club Forster and Sporties Tuncurry when Government and health advice permits.
The good news for members is your Power Points will continue to be preserved and your membership may be extended due to the shut-down.
Fortunately, Club Forster and Sporties Tuncurry is in a good financial position to ride out this closure and I thank all staff, members, suppliers, contractors and the community for their continued support and understanding as we all navigate our way through this extremely volatile and threatening time to public health and business.
Keep safe and well and together we will get through this crisis period.
General Manager’s Message – Covid-19 - Wednesday 25th March 2020
The decision by the Federal Government to close all licensed Clubs from Monday 23rd March 2020 was a massive blow to our staff, members and the broader Forster Tuncurry community already reeling from unprecedented drought and fires.
Unfortunately, as a result of this decision I have been forced to stand down all staff from Tuesday 24th March 2020.
I am deeply saddened by this action.
This is a temporary stand down measure only and all staff will have a job to come back to when it is lawfully allowed to occur.
Any staff that experience financial hardship will be able to contact our support team on 6591 6524 or 6591 6528 for support.
Board and Management is committed to assisting our staff, contractors and suppliers wherever we can to get through this extremely volatile and threatening time to public health and business.
Although, we are closed for normal business, a limited ‘Mini Mart’ style takeaway food, beverage and other essential items will be available from both clubs at a time to be advised.
So please stayed tuned for further news on this important community support initiative.
